December 2025 Film & TV Recap! The last Film & TV Recap of the year, and it was something. I watched 14 films (5 of which were rewatches), and completed 4 TV shows. Found two of the best watches of the year, and more. It’s safe to say 2025 has ended on a very high note.
So, without further ado—
December 2025 Film & TV Recap (FILMS):
Bullet Train (2022) dir. David Leitch

If you’re a fan of John Wick or Nobody, you’re going to love Bullet Train.
This film features the same brand of stylised action that’s redefined action films in the last decade. But, Bullet Train is much more quirky and stylised in a way that reminded me of Quentin Tarantino. While I did have some issues with it, overall, I really enjoyed watching this one.

My Rating: ★★★1/2
The Age of Disclosure (2025) dir. Dan Farah

This is by far the worst film I’ve watched in 2025. Forget about the fact that this is essentially a conspiracy theory brain rot video masquerading as a documentary. This is just a badly made film.
Have you seen it yet? Don’t bother. It’s a waste of time.

My Rating: 1/2 star
Wake Up Dead Man (2025) A Knives Out Mystery dir. Rian Johnson

I did not have high hopes for this one. I love the franchise, but the subject matter and setting are not my favourite, if you ask me. The trailer also didn’t pique my interest.
Now that I’ve watched it, I can tell you that I found it pretty dull and uninteresting. It had some good moments, but I found myself zoning out frequently. It’s mostly because I couldn’t relate to the characters, and I thought the narrative was quite clunky.

My Rating: ★★★
Predator: Badlands (2025) dir. Dan Trachtenberg

This film is exactly what I expected it to be. After Predator: Killer of Killers, I was quite hyped for it, and it did not disappoint.
Honestly, I’m loving whatever Dan Trachtenberg is doing with the Predator franchise, and I seriously can’t wait to see more stories set in his vision of the future. Badlands was entertaining, simplistic, and very satisfying. Plus, the twist with the Yautja being the protagonist added a nice touch to the film.

One Battle After Another (2025) dir. Paul Thomas Anderson

This was by far one of the best cinematic experiences of the year. I understand why everyone has been going all gaga over it.
Not only is One Battle After Another an absolutely mad thrilling film, it is also deeply politically relevant, and entertaining. Not a single dull moment, not a single unnecessary bit. Everything in here was gold.

Last Night in Soho (2019) dir. Edgar Wright

As much as I love Edgar Wright’s earlier movies, I was skeptical about this one because of mixed reviews. Yes, they are leaning towards positive, but I still had my doubts.
Frankly, the film is pretty enjoyable. As a psychological horror mystery, it’s pretty cool. But as an Edgar Wight film, it’s a little disappointing. His trademark quirk and hyper-stylised treatment is dampened down to the point that the film feels almost too generic.

My Rating: ★★★1/2
The Great Shamsuddin Family (2025) dir. Anusha Rizvi

A surprisingly warm, sensitive, and politically aware family drama I randomly stumbled upon this one. And I’m glad I did.
Anusha Rizvi is the same filmmaker who made Peepli Live, which was the main reason why I decided to watch it. However, the very organic and real family dynamics, the sensitive and funny treatment of each character, coupled with hard-hitting political truths of our times, it’s no surprise this one isn’t so openly talked about.
This is going to be one of my first reviews of the new year!
My Rating: ★★★1/2
Tokyo Godfathers (2003) dir. Satoshi Kon

This is one Christmas film that’s been on my radar for a few years now. And this Christmas, I finally got a chance to experience it.
As a fan of Satoshi Kon’s legendary anime style, this was an absolute delight to watch. From the deeply human exploration of each character’s tragic backstory, to the near magic realism of the film’s plot, everything made this a perfect holiday watch. Especially if you’re a fan of anime or Kon.

My Rating: ★★★★
The Roses (2025) dir. Jay Roach

I knew I was going to love this one because of Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch. But, I didn’t expect it to be this funny. I haven’t read the book or watched Danny DeVito’s version. However, what I saw here was exactly what I was looking for, and then some.
The characters are quirky, but feel real because of the cast’s performances. The larger-than-life absurdity is balanced well with its real human moments. Overall, just a super entertaining watch.
My Rating: ★★★1/2
December 2025 Film & TV Recap (SHOWS):
South Park Seasons 27 & 28

One of the best shows I watched in 2025, I am in awe of how hard South Park punched up with its commentary and mockery of the Trump Administration. I sincerely believe we need this level of audacity from creators if we want to live in a better future where fascists and pedophiles don’t hold positions of power.

Long Story Short Season 1

From BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, this brilliantly bittersweet comedy-drama tells the story of a middle-class Jewish family across multiple time periods told in a non-linear fashion.
It features much of the same kind of quirky humour, as well as the sensitive exploration of complex human emotions and conflicts. It’s beautifully mature, and a must-watch for fans of BoJack Horseman.

Pluribus Season 1

One of my most anticipated watches of the year, and it did not disappoint!
Vince Gilligan has made two of the best TV shows of all time—Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul. Naturally, I had very high hopes for this show. Especially cause it starred the very talented Rhea Seehorn. While the concept of a hive mind isn’t all that new, and there were a few dud moments in the show, overall, I loved the way Gilligan has imagined such a scenario in his trademark visually refined and narratively solid style.

Stranger Things Season 5

I reviewed Vol 1 in November, Vol 2 in December, and now I am posting about the finale. The finale released early in the new year, and I intentionally delayed posting this list just so I could include my review for Stranger Things too. Despite mixed feelings, I think it was a decent ending.
Stranger Things kinda fell off the tracks with Season 4. Half of Season 5 was good, but half of it was pretty bad. However, I think they mostly nailed the ending. Some disappointments, other expectedly satisfying resolutions, but overall just okay.
