Top 10 TV Shows of 2025 | Best Shows Ranked | Ronit J’s TV Recap

Top 10 TV Shows of 2025! I started doing this only last year, and well, it’s been going good! In case you’re wondering, this is what my year in series looks like:

Ronit J's year in TV Series 2025

I found some pretty amazing shows this year, and it’s time to rank the best of the best! Here’s my list of top 10 series of 2025. This year, I also decided to rank my top 10.

Note: Not all of these series released in 2025; I watched them all this year for the first time this year.

Honorary Mentions (almost made it to my Top 10 TV Shows of 2025 list):

Ronit J TV Series 2025 Honorary Mentions:
1. Invincible Season 2
2. Silicon Valley
3. Common Side Effects Season 1
4. Murderbot Season 1
5. Adults Season 1

These 6 almost made it to my list, but missed it by the narrowest of margins. But, once you see the list, you might be inclined to agree.

Reviews of the honorary mentions, if you want to check them out:

10) Peacemaker Season 2

While I was a tad disappointed with the finale, episodes 1-9 were absolute gold. Despite being a soft reboot, the show retained a lot of its first season’s charm, and built on its depth and emotional arcs. The political relevance of this show, coupled with the captivating premise and loveable characters made this one of the best TV experiences of the year.

9) Deli Boys

A true hidden gem that I randomly stumbled upon, Deli Boys is one of the funniest, most entertaining things I’ve watched all year. Desi, but not stereotypical. Dark, but with heart. Deli Boys Season 1 has everything you’d expect from a black comedy about a desi family running a billion dollar criminal operation, made by an ex-Vice filmmaker.

I seriously cannot wait enough for Season 2!

8) Adolescence

Adolescence Still 3 featuring Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper

I had some idea of what Incel culture is, but this show really opened my eyes. The extent to which Internet Garbage like Andrew Tate and Jake Paul can influence our youth is just heartbreaking. Technically sound and thematically relevant, this was 4 hours of near cinematic excellence. A rare nuanced show from Netflix, one that all parents should watch with their kids.

7) Severance Season 2

This was one of my two most anticipated shows of 2025. And it did not disappoint! Not only did Season 2 live up to the hype, it expanded on this dystopian world and the whole lore of the Eagans in interesting ways. While there were moments of dullness in between, the show has stayed with me months after it ended, and I am eager to return to this world and keep digging deeper. Season 3 can’t come soon enough!

6) Pluribus Season 1

My other most hyped show of the year, and boy did Vince Gilligan create a masterpiece or what? Okay, it’s not as good as Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul yet, but you can see the seeds of greatness taking root here. Season 1 featured all of Gilligan’s trademark, the aesthetic creating a meditative, captivating, and thought provoking show. That ending though… wow. Yes, it’s kind of a cliffhanger, but for the most part, Season 1 completed a whole emotional arc for Carol (Rhea Seehorn), and I am loving what Gilligan is doing with this concept and setting.

Avinash Arun’s Paatal Lok Season 1 was one of the best things to come out of Amazon Prime Video India. I hate how little they marketed season 2, because Season 2 was even better than that stellar first season. And, it’s almost self contained, meaning you can enjoy Season 2 on its own. Politically relevant, cinematically daunting, this show is compulsively bingeable. If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out on some of India’s best crime thrillers.

4) LastMan

Criminally underrated, this visually vibrant and unique French animated show is perhaps one of the best animated shows ever made. I watched it in French with French subtitles, and I have to say: this is a work of art. Season 2 especially is a masterclass in writing. It’s only 2 seasons long, but what brilliancy they are! If this show were more accessible, I’m sure this would be counted among the greats.

3) South Park Season 27-28

You need real courage to pull off what Trey Parker & Matt Stone did with the latest 2 seasons of South Park. I tried to write a review, but ended up ranting about the abysmal state of the world instead. But, you can also read it as an essay of why we need more such shows. Check it out!

2) Takopi’s Original Sin

This show almost broke me. Soul-crushingly depressing, this is perhaps one of the most beautiful exploration of pathos and childhood trauma that I have ever seen. I don’t know if I can stomach a rewatch, but this is certainly one of the best things I’ve seen this year. If you have the courage and willpower, go for it. Because this one is much more devastating than both Grave of the Fireflies and BoJack Horseman.

1) The Studio Season 1

Bryan Cranston as Griffin Mill & Seth Rogen as Matt Remick in The Studio

An absolute treat for cinephiles and filmmakers, this show features long takes, meta humour, and tension-filled episodes of narcissistic egomaniacs behaving like utter idiots. Every single episode is an achievement for filmmaking. I can’t imagine the production nightmare this show might have been. But, it’s given me my favourite TV show of the year. Can’t wait for more such absurd antics from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
