December 2024 Reading Wrap-Up | Wind and Truth, Dungeon Crawler Carl, & more…

December 2024 Reading Wrap-Up is extra special, because I ended up reading two books that I wasn’t planning to. These extra books have ended up making my total read count to 50 books! Not only is that the most books I’ve read in a year ever, this is also the most consistent I’ve been with reviewing books.

I am genuinely very happy with how my reading journey has been this year. I expect a little bit of a slowdown next year, but I’ll still try my best to read as much as I can and review them all.

So, without further ado—

December 2024 Reading Wrap-Up!

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman – ★★★★

This book was exactly as epic and wild as I was told. Break-neck pacing, the novel doesn’t have a single dull or boring moment. However, I do have one small complaint which did cost the book 1 star.

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman with a 4 star review by Ronit J. First book in Ronit's December 2024 Reading Wrap-Up.

The Answer is No by Fredrik Backman – ★★★★

Honestly, I wasn’t going to read this one because I wanted to finish Wind and Truth on time. But then, I had a bad day and WaT was in a boring portion that I couldn’t focus on. So, I picked this one up, and what an amazingly uplifting book this was!

I love Fredrik Backman’s writing, and this was exactly the cozy read that I needed to clear my head. Also, this was a good enough palette cleanser to continue powering through WaT.

Wind & Truth by Brandon Sanderson – ★★★★

Okay, there’s a lot to unpack here, and I will be posting my review soon. However, I have to admit one thing: not all was great about this book. There were quite a few dull moments, some arcs that I just wasn’t able to enjoy, as well as some resolutions/reveals that felt a little rushed. That being said, no one can deny the epic and satisfying finale that Sanderson’s has given us to conclude the first half of Stormlight.

The Sander-lanche was as epic and fulfilling as you’d expect it to be. A near-perfect ending to this 5000-page epic build-up. The worst part, honestly, is that we have to wait 6 years before we get the next chapter of this epic.

My full review will be posted on SFF Insiders.

And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman – ★★★★

And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer by Fredrik Backman, 4 star review by Ronit J

After Wind & Truth, I was at 49 books. With 2 more days to go, I decided to squeeze in one last novella to round up my 2024 reads to a solid 50. This short novella by Backman made for the perfect cozy read to bookend my 2024.
