December 2024 WIP Updates & Future Plans

December 2024 just flew by so quickly! You can also say that about the whole year, to be honest. Feels like just yesterday, that I was celebrating the release of my debut novel. One blink of the eye later, it’s almost 13 months later!

Note: I know this one’s coming a little early, but it’s the end of the year and I am taking the last few days off for a much deserved break.

Untitled Adeva Trilogy Book 1 – December 2024 updates

Just short of the 100k mark!

Early in December 2024, I touched the 100k mark. A real milestone, because this one is now inching towards becoming my longest novel. Of course, it is by design. The longest draft I’ve ever written was 246k back in 2019. This book is a revisit of a lot of those themes and ideas but with a much more mature and evolved treatment.

As of the time of writing this post, I’ve touched the 50% mark with 125k words! This is great progress, in my opinion. However, I am going to take a short break from this one because it’s time I turn my attention to—

Island of the Dying Goddess – Edits begin in Jan 2025

As of December 2024, the beta reading stage is complete. With my beta readers’ valuable insights in my inbox, I am now fully equipped to move onto the editing stage. Like Abandoned by the Gods, I’ll be self-editing this one as well for a multitude of reasons. That being said, I don’t like to rush through edits because I take my time to scrutinise each line carefully.

My estimate is that I should be done with the edits somewhere between mid-to-end of February.

No major updates on Abandoned by the Gods this month. I did get one sale, which I find interesting because only the print copies are on sale, while the ebook is free to my mailing list. Well, maybe I should consider putting the ebook on sale too. I’ll take a call after a few months.

My 2024 Yearly Wrap-Up:

Unlike the other months, this month is special, being the last of 2024 and whatnot. So, in the days leading up to the New Year, I’m going to be posting my Top 10 List of Movies, Series and Books! Stay tuned!

My 2025 Plans:

Well, I didn’t do this last year because I had a whole lot on my plate. Plus, a lot happened during the year that very much derailed my writing and publishing plans. However, I’m mostly on track with everything, so here’s everything I have planned for 2025 (writing this here so I can hold myself accountable next year):

Release Island of the Dying Goddess (mid 2025) – already explained earlier.
Finish writing Adeva Book 1 (Q1 of 2025, with a release end 2025/early 2026) – with 50% done, I am hoping to wrap up the rough draft by the end of March 2025. Given the amount of planning I put in, I don’t expect a lot of changes in the edits, but it is a massive book so I want to allow myself some leeway with regards to the release date.
Short Stories – I have plans for some shorts that I want to realise in 2025. Not the most important goal of next year, but certainly on the table.
Write more reviews – I stopped writing movie reviews because I wasn’t getting enough traction. But then, I started getting more visitors & clicks on my website because of those old posts. Got me thinking—did I give up too early? Well, not really. I was swamped, and wasn’t able to juggle everything well. However, seeing those old posts still getting impressions and clicks is motivating me to give it a stab again. So, expect more reviews on my website in 2025!
