Deli Boys Season 2 Review:
Deli Boys Season 1 was one of my favourite watches of 2025. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see this pop up on my feed last week, and I pretty much binged on all 6 episodes that same night. Given how much I loved the first season, my expectations were sky high. So, did the show live up to the hype?
Season 2 begins with the Dar family, Mir (Asif Ali), Raj (Saagar Shaikh) and Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan) sitting on so much cash that they desperately need to launder that money. So, they look to Max Sugar (Fred Armisen), a casino owner who’s into notoriously a psycho. However, he seems to have the hots for Lucky Aunty and… feeling’s mutual. Meanwhile, Raj is fueling with rage and vengeance against Ahmad (Brian George) for killing their Baba (Iqbal Theba). There’s also DA Chadwater (Andrew Rannells) who’s after the Dars just to win his election.
Still As Hilarious, But Something Feels Off…

The very first thing I noticed when I saw this show listed on JioHotstar was that it only had 6 episodes. Already, that was a red flag to me. Then the first episode played out, and something just felt off.
My favourite part of Season 1 was the blend of dark and goofy humour. That’s largely still the case. There were way too many laugh-out-loud moments throughout this season. Lucky Aunty is still the badass we know her as. Mir & Raj continue to clown around as they settle in as Co-Chief Saabs. The old characters are familiarly likeable, while the new additions all bring something interesting to the table (except Chadwater, I hated his entire arc). However, something feels very off.
When episode 1 transitioned from the recap to the actual story, it felt like we were starting from the middle of a story. What’s worse, the setting of Season 2 never feels clearly established. The editing feels pretty wonky, resulting in almost every episode feeling like a randomly thrown-together bunch of gags. The more I think about it, the entire plot itself never really feels as coherent and clear as Season 1. It’s just a bunch of random gags and jokes playing out with the weakest plot thread. The Lucky-Max romance was pretty odd, and the love-triangle jealousy with Danyal (Kumail Nanjiani) just didn’t work for me. It somehow made Lucky feel like less of a badass, and just distracted me from the main plot (which already was so barebones and weak).
Sadly, Season 2 to me was quite disappointing.
Feels Like Filler

The season opens with the Dars having more money than they know what to do with. From there, we pretty randomly jump into the Lucky-Max romance, and that plot somehow takes precedence over everything else. Admittedly, Fred Armisen and Poorna Jagannathan are brilliant. Many of their scenes stood out to me. However, that plot got a lot more attention than the actual crime world. In fact, there’s little-to-no actual criminal activity in the rest of the season, unless you count Ran & Mir searching for Ahmad’s killer. The whole criminal empire setting feels non-existent, making everything else feel pointless. Only the last two episodes focus on it, but sadly, it’s too late by then.
As for Raj & Mir… what even was that? Raj is searching for vengeance, but fails to do anything to Ahmad. Mir is too focused on getting that golf club membership, which just felt stupid. And don’t even get me started on Chadwater. Not only was he incredibly annoying as a character, every time he came on screen, I just zoned out. None of the Chadwater gags worked for me. I was happy to see so many cameos, but they were just all flash and no substance. Maybe except Lily Singh.
Where Season 1 felt coherent, Season 2 felt like a filler season. Is this season about Raj’s vengeance against Ahmad? Is it about them taking the business to the next level? Is it about their downfall? The show doesn’t address any of the natural questions appropriately. Instead, it indulges in its humour to the point that the plot feels non-existent at times.
Which actually reminds me, Season 1 ended with the deli exploding. Yet, there’s no allusion to that in this season. Man, they really dropped this ball this time, didn’t they?
Deli Boys Season 2 Ending Explained
Max plans on betraying Lucky and the Dars so he can save himself and his daughter. However, Lucky finds out and tricks him into believing she has his daughter hostage. She then convinces him to trick Chadwater, who is planning on busting the Dars in Max’s casino.
As Chadwater arrives, the Dars trick him into confessing about Joey Tomatoes, who he had framed. They then reveal that he is being recorded. They use that recording as leverage to have Chadwater bust Max, revealing shipments of cocaine that they claim is Max’s. Chadwater obliges, because he’s just as corrupt as everyone else.
Max is arrested. Raj runs for mayor. The Dars take over Max’s casino. As they’re celebrating, they get a pie. Matthew eats the pie, as Raj reads the letter that’s from ‘The Eldest Dar’. Lucky Aunty warns Matthew, but finds him falling down, presumably poisoned. The season ends on this cliffhanger.
Who is the eldest Dar? We’ll find out in the next season.
Deli Boys Worth Watching?

Yes. It’s a damn good show, and I’m not just saying it because I’m desi. It’s well-written, the performances are great, the humour is genuinely funny, and the drama is compelling. Almost everything about the show is solid. My only complaint with the show was the timeskip at the end of the finale. I felt that the show spent more time teasing season 2 instead of letting us enjoy the success of the first season.
Will there be a Deli Boys Season 3?
Of course! Ahmed is still at large, and Mercer will surely be back to try and nab the Dar family. And if you ask me, I can’t wait to watch Season 2.
In Conclusion,
Deli Boys Season 2 is still as hilarious as season 1. However, the odd pacing, near non-existent plot and strange editing decisions make it feel like a filler season.
