Captain America: Brave New World (2025) Review:
I knew this was a bad film going in. But I genuinely love the superhero genre. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. So, I wanted to give this a shot. I wanted to feel the familiar cosy feeling of the MCU aesthetic, and at worst, just laugh at the bad decisions this film definitely was going to throw my way.
I really did not anticipate how bad this movie was going to be. It’s not the ‘so bad, it’s funny and worth watching’ kind of bad. It’s the ‘so bad, it should be taught in film schools for how not to make a movie’ bad. The worst film of 2025, if you ask me.

The first 3 minutes of the movie are a poorly edited segment with Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (Harrison Ford) being elected as President. How? Insert “Somehow Palpatine returned” meme. From there, we cut to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) intercepting some package of Adamantium, and a lot of politics that’s somehow simpler than the kind you would expect to read in a Young Adult novel.
If you think that Disney doesn’t respect you, keep reading.
Did AI write Captain America: Brave New World (2025)?
I legitimately had this doubt about 10-15 minutes into the film. The plot was a generic formula that had little to no imagination. Imagine someone prompts ChatGPT to make a checklist of plot points to include in an MCU film about Captain America where he’s investigating a government conspiracy, and you’d get a close resemblance to the Captain America: Brave New World plot. What’s worse? There’s no effort made to edit the plot and scenes to make them more believable. Everything happens for plot convenience, and nothing makes sense except if you switch off your critical thinking skills.
The dialogues sound like what you’d expect to hear if It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia made a ‘Gang Makes an MCU Movie’ episode. They’re so bad and mechanical, even Giancarlo Esposito couldn’t make them sound good or serious. They aren’t campy. They aren’t ironically funny. The writers seem to have put zero effort into making this film feel like it’s made and performed by humans. If someone releases secret documents revealing that this film was made entirely by AI, I would not be surprised.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe – Great when it started, but long past its expiration date

The idea of a shared cinematic universe was amazing when it was first launched. It isn’t anymore. For years, the MCU has been taking us all for granted, and Captain America: Brave New World (2024) is the epitome of it.
The earlier instalments at least told compelling stories with memorable visuals. But Captain America: Brave New World failed to learn anything from its predecessors.
There is no depth to the characters (despite so much already having been established in the million preceding instalments), not enough rhyme or reason to most character choices, and a plot so full of holes that it will give you trypophobia. Everything happens a little too easily, making the progress feel unearned.
If that’s not all, the film—despite its $180 million budget—looks outstandingly mediocre. Seriously, I’ve seen TV shows with lower budgets offer more cinematic visuals than the CGI garbage we got in this movie. And the CGI action set-pieces aren’t exempt from that criticism. Seriously, Breaking Bad looked 10x more cinematic at a 1/60th of the budget (per episode). The film really does feel like a sad mockery of itself whilst trying really hard to be serious. And I mean that from every perspective.
The writing is bad. 5 writers at the table, and not even 10% of a good film? I can only imagine what happened behind the scenes. The direction is almost non-existent, which is more a criticism of Disney & Marvel Studios and not so much of Julius Onah (I sincerely believe that executive interference is the reason behind this movie’s phenomenal mediocrity). The visuals are just meh. And you know what? Even the Easter Eggs and MCU connections don’t salvage this trainwreck of a film.
Captain America: Brave New World (2025) Ending Explained (SPOILERS)

Thunderbolt Ross transforms into the Red Hulk (shocking) and goes on a rampage. Sam Wilson leads him to the cherry orchards, where, after almost dying in a lacklustre CGI battle, he manages to talk Ross into transforming back. Subsequently, Isaiah is released from prison. Later, we see Ross is held prisoner in the Raft after taking responsibility for all his actions. The US-Japan treaty remains solid. Meanwhile, Sam Wilson considers restarting the Avengers.
Captain America: Brave New World (2024) post-credits scene: Sterns teases the possibility of the Multiverse, telling Sam that the other worlds might invade soon.
You know what? The plot on paper isn’t all that bad. But, there are 3 major problems with this movie:
- The outline reads like an AI, and the final draft reads like no one bothered to question the many flaws.
- There is no heart to any of the emotional conflicts, character moments, or even the visual presentation of all of these.
- The poster and trailers for the film spoiled the final twist (Red Hulk) of the film, completely ruining that reveal.
I knew the MCU isn’t even a pale shadow of what it used to be, but damn, this movie felt like a cheap knockoff that makes even Michael Bay movies seem Palme d’Or worthy.
Is Captain America: Brave New World (2025) worth watching?
No.
In Conclusion:
Captain America: Brave New World (2025) is the worst film I’ve watched this year. I’m not even going to grace that statement with a ‘so far’ because I am confident that there cannot be a worse entry in the list.
P.S.: I just want to say, I have no qualms with the actors and filmmakers. This film is not their failure, it is the Studio’s and the executives’. What Disney and Marvel Studios have done to their IP is so vile and insulting, I genuinely wouldn’t bat an eye if they decide to shut shop.
