June 2024 was an important month for me as an author. Every single WIP/released title of mine had an important update, and I for one am extremely delighted to share them with you!

Island of the Dying Goddess – FIRST DRAFT COMPLETED!

I want to scream at top of my lungs, “FIRST DRAFT COMPLETED!”

It has been quite a wild journey, with as much frustration and anxiety as delight and catharsis. This one was a tough nut to crack, if I’m being honest. I think the major problem was discovery writing this book in the middle of several personal events.

Let me list them out, and maybe you’ll get why this took so long to write. Since I first started writing Island of the Dying Goddess, I — 1) released my debut novel, 2) edited, designed the cover, and released my second book, 3) finished writing a novella that I decided to shelf, 4) moved houses, 5) dealt with two deaths in the family, 6) started writing reviews for SFF Insiders, 7) plotted my next novel, which I’m estimating to be around 350k words, and 8) made preparations to adopt Joy (my in-law’s golden retriever who inspired my debut novel) full time. Damn, it’s been a long couple of months, haven’t they?

But, the end of the story is that writing this novel has been both therapeutic and rewarding. Even the cover is almost ready, and I hope to reveal it in my July newsletter.

I still need another round or two of edits before it’s ready for beta readers, but I expect those to go by faster. Stay tuned for more updates!

Untitled Adeva Trilogy Book 1 – Prologue completed!

There’s something about working on just one project at a time that doesn’t sit well with me. Also, having multiple projects works in my favour because I’m able to stay productive even if I’m feeling uninspired to work on one.

That being said, this is the novel that I originally started writing when I was 11, which I sorta completed at 19, then did a complete revamp to the point of no resemblance in 2021, and have sat down to write it again for the third time. This one will be set in the world of Adeva, the setting of my Indian Grimdark Anthology, Abandoned by the Gods.

What you see above is a rough outline of the first book. I’m estimating it to be a 250k word long epic.

Sticking to what I said in my last post, Help! My Dog is the Chosen One! is now on Kindle Unlimited!

Surprisingly, I got another ebook sale from IngramSpark in May, but I then I got 81 downloads through my free promo that I ran from June 14-16 [In case you missed it, sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get notified even before I post on social media]. So, what the numbers say is KU is already working better. Yes, I practically gave away a hundred ebooks, but if that leads to more people discovering my stories and eventually translating to better sales, it’ll be worth it.

Books Read in June 2024

June was another relatively slow month reading-wise. My favourite of the lot was definitely Dawnshard by Brandon Sanderson, followed closely by Fleet Champions by Rob J Hayes. I won’t go into detail, since I’ve done a full reading wrap up post, where I talk briefly about each book I read in June, and link my full reviews.
