October 2025 Film & TV Recap! Wait, is this a new format of posts? Yes!

I’ve been posting my Monthly Reading Wrap-Ups, and that got me thinking… why not do the same for my films & series? After all, I review all of them with just as much consistency, and there are a lot more movies and shows I watch every month. So, with the aim of appeasing the algorithm, here’s all the movies & TV shows I finished watching in October 2025.

Note: For the TV shows, I’m listing the series that I finished watching this month, not the ones I started.

October 2025 Film & TV Recap (FILMS):

Note: I also finished Season 27 of South Park this month. However, Season 27 originally had 10 episodes planned, which were later split, leaving Season 27 with just 5, and Season 28 debuting instead of Season 27 Episode 06. It’s a bit confusing, I know. I was a little puzzled too. But, the two seasons clearly have one story arc they’re telling (a certain somebody’s administration), and so I’m going to be counting them as a single story, reviewing both in a single post whenever Season 28 ends.

Bad Taste (1985) dir. Peter Jackson

Bad Taste 1987 Film Poster - October 2025 Film & TV recap

As a filmmaker, I absolutely loved this one! But, I have to be honest, it’s quite raw and crude. This is a low budget film that Jackson made with his friends in New Zealand, and his creativity earned him the honour of directing LOTR trilogy!

If you’re not a filmmaker, you might not appreciate this one. But, if you’re into slapstick, gory, repulsive, low-budget films, you’re going to love it!

Good Boy (2025) dir. Ben Leonberg

Good Boy 2025 Dog Indie Horror Film Poster

I was super stoked to watch this one. As a dog parent, Good Boy hits really differently. Indy the Dog is a fantastic actor. My respect and appreciation to the filmmakers for managing to bring out such a wonderfully realistic performance out of him. As a horror film it doesn’t really break the mould, but as a film told from the dog’s perspective, this is a masterpiece!

Clown in a Cornfield (2025) dir. Eli Craig

Clown in a Cornfield 2025 Film Poster featuring Frendo the killer clown

Honestly, I was super disappointed with this one. Clown in a Cornfield had a great premise with that classic horror vibes coupled with modern subversion. Yet, somehow the finale was so idiotic and convoluted that it completely ruined the film for me. I have to admit, this was the worst film I watched in October.

KPop Demon Hunters (2025) dir. Chris Appelhans & Maggie Kang

KPop Demon Hunters Film poster featuring Huntr:x - Rumi, Mira & Zoey

I am not a fan of musicals. Or Kpop. I knew watching this film was already a stretch for me. But, Daniel Greene rated it positively, and I have heard a lot of people praising it. So, I decided to give it a shot.

Honestly, I did not like it. Objectively, it’s a good film, above average maybe. There’s a lot to appreciate here, and I’d be lying if I said I did not enjoy parts of it.

Final Destination Bloodlines (2025) dir. Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein

Final Destination Bloodlines 2025 Official Film Poster

This was the most surprisingly fun film of the month. I did not expect to like a Final Destination film this much, but wow. I get why this is the best rated, and highest grossing film of the franchise. The writing really helps make this creative gore-fest feel more real and captivating.

One Piece Film: Z (2012) dir. Tatsuya Nagamine

One Piece Film Z Movie Poster

Z featured a villain that was compelling, interesting, and worthy of being a canon character. Seriously, Oda’s involvement as producer really made a difference, with this film being significantly better than its preceding entries. I loved almost everything about it.

One Piece Film: Gold (2016) dir. Hiroaki Miyamoto

One Piece Film Gold Movie Poster

This was the most disappointing of the films that Oda was involved with. It felt like a filler arc with excuses to show off a quirky setting and stellar animation. That being said, it was visually stunning, and I had a great time. The plot and ending too were pretty cool.

One Piece Film: Stampede (2019) dir. Takashi Otsuka

One Piece Stampede Poster Movie 14

Stampede is essentially one long action set piece in the spirit of a Battle Royale. I was reminded of the Wano Arc’s finale, where Luffy, Zoro, Law, Kid, and Killer face off against Kaido. Except, that Douglas Bullet was quite a one-dimensional boring villain. However, the action and the animation made this quite the thrilling watch.

One Piece Film: Red (2022) dir. Goro Taniguchi

One Piece Film Red Poster featuring Shanks, Luffy & Uta

Honestly, this was the worst of the new films. But, I hate musicals, so naturally I’d feel that way. Except, many Redditors also ranked this very low. The visuals and animation are great. But the plot is idiotically convoluted. And the songs didn’t help.

October 2025 Film & TV Recap (SHOWS):

Peacemaker Season 2

Peacemaker Season 2 Poster James Gunn DCU John Cena Jennifer Holland Danielle Brooks

James Gunn has delivered a second season that’s somehow significantly better than season 1, whilst being supremely relevant. But, I was disappointed with the finale, which left me with mixed feelings. And. yet, I can’t help but admit that this was certainly one of the best shows I’ve watched this year. The DCU is shaping up to be quite an entertaining new franchise. Check out my full review.

Gen V Season 2

Gen V Season 2 Poster featuring Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li, Asa Germann as Samuel "Sam" Riordan

I wasn’t too keen on season 2, but boy was it a rollercoaster ride of epic action and gore. Thankfully, Gen V S02 delivered everything that I wanted, beautifully set up the final season of The Boys. Yes, I did have some issues with the emotional arcs in this season, but overall, it was quire enjoyable.

Only Murders in the Building Season 5

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Official Poster featuring Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage and Martin Short as Oliver Putnam

Frankly, OMITB is quite the cozy watch for me. However, I admit that none of the new seasons have come close to the brilliance of season 1. A mix bag, this had some wins, some losses, and mostly mehs. This is one series that I won’t mourn upon cancellation, but will ritually watch every new episode the day it drops.
